Newbury is not just a summer town; residents are busy all year long contributing to (and improving) their community. A new playground, an annual farmers’ market, The Fells land conservation and a restored meetinghouse are just a few of the gems of this town with no downtown. From the trails of Mount Sunapee to the shores of Lake Sunapee, there’s always something fun to do in Newbury.

  • The Tackle Shack has fishing gear, live bait, hunting, archery, and camping equipment. Stop by their new location on Route 103.
  • From Memorial Day through Thanksgiving,The Center Meeting House will host an Art Gallery and Gift Shop on Sundays from 12 to 2 p.m. The shop features gifts and wares featuring our own building – including glasses, ornaments, tote bags and other items – as well as the work from local artisans. Proceeds go directly toward maintaining and preserving the Center Meeting House.

SUMMER
Each June, the Sunapee Lions host their Annual Antique & Classic Car Show in Newbury. Park in the paved parking lot, pay an admission fee, and walk in a number of directions to look at 300-plus cars — muscle cars, four decades of Corvettes, Model "A" Fords and Model "T" Fords, heavy duty trucks and foreign cars. Vote for your selection for the People's Choice award, and enjoy a barbeque lunch.

SUMMER
Got kids? Check out the Velie Memorial Playground next to the library on Route 103. It has everything from swings to a rock climbing wall to a train. Even if you’re not a kid, you’ll find yourself acting like one the minute you set foot on the wood shavings.

Bubba’s Bar & Grill is really yummy. Lunch (or dinner) can be enjoyed overlooking the harbor (at the front windows), at the bar with big screen television, or in a booth in the back with friends. This new restaurant is located in the Newbury Harbor Plaza, near the post office.
